about
I’m Ryan, a Nashville-based filmmaker and photographer focused on storytelling. I work in live, fast-moving environments where preparation and instinct matter. Clients trust me to capture what's important without getting in the way.
I founded Northman Creative in 2013 and I've found the experienced gained over the years has prepared me to make sure what's happening in the room gets documented the right way.

A little bit more about me
I bought my first camera in high school and began filming our family vacations.

I roped my little brother into starring in a "Lord of the Rings" parody.
I created the film on my dad’s mac in the basement of his office.
I moved to Nashville in 2012 to work in the music business.
When video and photo work for musicians started to take over, Northman Creative was founded.

I’ve found the most meaning in collaborating with people who are making an impact in their communities.
In 2018 I began work on my first feature-length documentary, Thistle, following Thistle Farms, a Nashville-based non-profit led by Becca Stevens, reinventing recovery work for women survivors of trafficking, addiction, and prostitution.
It went on to win "Best TN Feature" at the Nashville Film Festival in 2021.

I’m incredibly grateful I get to do this for a living.
Thanks for trusting me with your story.
From global stages to quiet studios,
preserving the moments that shape us.
