Hello! I’m Ryan and I founded Northman Creative in 2013. I moved to Nashville in 2013 and I’ve been creating photo and video content ever since.
In high school I purchased my first camera and started making recap videos of our family vacations. This led lead to spending a summer making a LOTR parody film I tricked my younger brother into playing the lead in.
Making music videos was always my dream job (and I still love doing this) but I’ve realized documentary work is most meaningful to me, working alongside people to share their stories and capturing important moments. This all came together in my first feature length documentary titled Thistle, which follows a justice enterprise in Nashville that is re-inventing what a recovery program can look like for women survivors of trafficking, prostitution and addiction. The film went on to win “Best TN Feature” in the Nashville Film Festival in 2022.
